The Friends are Lemont residents who believe that the Lemont Public Library is a wonderful community resource.

The Friends believe in the value of books and reading for all people of all ages.

The Friends believe that the library is a book and information center.

The Friends believe that the library should be the place where the public has access to books, periodicals, computers, videos, DVD's, CD's, art and more.

The Friends believe that although the Library receives tax dollars, there are programs and projects that could be added and supplemented with financial help from the Friends

What We Stand For
Our Mission is to further an enthusiastic partnership between the Lemont Library and the Lemont Community.

Our Purpose is to focus public attention in a positive manner on library services, facilities and needs, to help promote the use and enjoyment of the library, to develop supplemental funding for the library and to actively support the library.

It's Good to Have Friends
The Friends donate $1,500 to the Children's Summer Reading Program each year.

They have donated funds to purchase such items as a printer for the public's use, paperback book display racks, book repair equipment for the staff, and plantings for the outside of the Library.

They donated $2,000 to the Library to sponsor the Tutor.com program enabling all Lemont students with Lemont Library cards in 4th through 12th grades to have access to a live tutor through their home internet connection.

The Friends donated $1,000 for the Portable Heart Defibulator housed at the Library.

They sponsor a yearly $500 scholarship to a High School Senior living in Lemont.

The Friends provide paperback books to borrow at the Lemont Train Station.

The Friends provide manpower to the Library staff whenever asked.

They provde volunteers to deliver books to the homebound of the community.

The major fundraiser of the organization is the Spring and Fall Used Book Sale, held in the meeting room of the library. More workers and used books are always needed.
